It was recently announced by Sensics, the company that makes head-mounted display units, that they will be releasing a brand new device that will change gaming: SmartGoggles.
These SmartGoggles brings gaming to a whole new 3D, 360-degree component to the gaming we already know and love. It will be ran by Android, able to access a wide range of applications to play with, but it should also integrate with gaming consoles—we have to assume this will include the PlayStation 4. The CEO of Sensics says that “SmartGoggles revolutionize 3D goggles in the same way that Smart Phones revolutionized mobile phones.” We know that Sony has the Personal 3D Viewer, which is on sale for a whopping $799 and releasing 1/17/12, so we’re hoping that the SmartGoggles will be compatible to PlayStation devices with a chunk off the price tag.Where SmartGoggles is different, though, are the motion-based aspects that come with it. Use your hands to manipulate weapons in game, to browse the internet, and control applications. It will immerse you in a brand new level of 3D. We’ll see the SmartGoggles in action at CES 2012 this January. Hopefully, they’ll let us know if it will be compatible with the PlayStation 3 or PS4!
