Playstation Network Update fireware version 3.42

There are hacks for just about any type of computer software, hardware, accessory, cellphone and many more products. Well, the newest update for the Playstation 3 from Sony is set to block these types of hacks. Sony hopes that hacks that allow users to play homemade games, download games onto hard drives via USB, etc. Sony is calling the update minor, but I am sure this update isn’t anything close to minor.

The systems will be updated to fireware version 3.42 and it is made available for download. The “minor” update will be blocking the PS JailBreak and have additional security features installed on your Playstation 3. If you are not running the Playstation Network then you will not be required to download the update. Those that use the Playstation Network and wish to have access to it in the future will be required to download the update.

Some fans are not very happy with the update and the updates that could follow this one. Users cruised to the Playstation blog to voice their opinions. One said, “Oh, come now. At least be honest about the update. We all know it’s the first of an expected hundred-plus firmware updates to block the Jailbreak. Now you’ll be doing these every day like with the PSP instead of actually taking the time to give us updates we actually need or working on making the system/service better.” I, for one, don’t agree with that person and that if there weren’t hackers attacking software, companies could concentrate on creating the best service for its users.

There are plenty of “fans” of the update to go along with the quote above and I think that they should also speak their opinion against those that don’t want to see these security updates from Sony.
